Everything you need to follow and experience your race

ChronoKey is designed so you have nothing to install. No account to create, no app to download. A simple link — received by email or found on the organizer's page — gives you access to your bib, your live tracking, your results and your certificate.

Find my race

All ChronoKey races are listed on the Live tracking page, organized into three sections: In progress (today's race), Upcoming (next events), and Archives (past results). The search bar filters in real time by race name, location, or organizer.

  1. Bib printed large

The bib number is displayed prominently in large monospace characters, just like on the field. Ideal for quickly spotting your favorite runner.

  2. Real-time route map

If the organizer has imported a GPX track, you see the actual route of the course. The gold dot pulses at the runner's current position (last recorded checkpoint).

  3. Detailed check-in history

Each checkpoint passed: arrival time, elapsed race time, split time since the previous one, gap to the leader. Checkpoints still to be passed remain grayed out.

A participant profile link is shareable: copy the link and send it to friends and family. See the article Share my tracking.

Go to my participant space

If the organizer has confirmed your registration, you will receive an email "Your access to your participant space" with a unique, secure personal link (valid for 30 days). This link opens your mobile interface: your bib, your race, the check-ins already recorded, and the GPS self check-in button if enabled.

Subject: "Your access to your participant space". The link contains a secure personal access code. No password to create or remember.

  2. Open the link on your phone

The interface is designed primarily for mobile. On Android/Chrome, you can "Add to Home Screen" to access it like a real app.

Didn't receive an email? A few possible causes:

  • Check your Spam / Junk / Promotions folders
  • Your email address may not have been provided by the organizer
  • Contact the organizer; they can resend the link from their console

GPS self check-in from my phone

When the organizer enables it on a checkpoint (icon "Auto GPS"), you can record your own passage from your phone, without a volunteer. ChronoKey verifies that you are physically within the GPS zone of the checkpoint before recording.

The two GPS zone modes

The organizer chooses how ChronoKey reacts if you try to check in outside the authorised zone:

  • Warning: you are notified but can still validate — your check-in will be flagged as "suspect" for review.
  • Strict: unconditional refusal. You must be physically within the zone for the check-in to be accepted.

Move closer to the checkpoint to activate the button. 3
  1. Locate the next checkpoint to record

The app highlights your next checkpoint with a gold border. The number, name and distance are displayed.

  2. Tap "CHECK IN BY GPS"

The button is only active if the race is started and you are near the zone. Your phone will ask for permission to access your location.

  3. Immediate confirmation

If everything is correct: ✓ "Check-in recorded". Otherwise, an explicit message indicates why (out of zone, imprecise GPS, race not started).

Strict mode refused? Check these points in order:

  • Is the race started? (otherwise check-in is not possible)
  • Is your GPS enabled and accurate? (the app shows an indicator)
  • Are you physically within the defined zone? (usually a radius of 50 to 200 m around the exact point)

Self check-in at start

For races with an individual start, if the organizer has enabled the option, your first check-in at the start checkpoint is what starts your personal race. You decide your start time, within the allowed window (for example: between the official time and 30 min after).

Unblock GPS location

Is the “Record by GPS” button stuck or showing “Location denied / disabled / no response”? It means your phone or browser is not allowing access to your location. Follow the procedure for your device: location is re-enabled within a few seconds, then try the check-in again.

The right reflex before the start. Open your participant link and run the “Pre-race check” (GPS, network and data test). You grant the permission once and for all, calmly and in advance — on race day check-in is instant.

iPhone / iPad (iOS)

On iPhone, two levels can block your location: the phone's general setting, then the browser permission.

1. Enable location on your phone

  1. Settings → Privacy and Security → Location Services

Check that “Location Services” is enabled (green toggle).

  2. In the same list, scroll down to your browser

Safari (or Chrome) → choose “While Using the App” and enable “Precise Location”.

2. Allow the site in Safari

  1. If you declined “out of reflex”

Tap the “aA” icon on the left of the address bar → “Website Settings”LocationAllow.

  2. Reload the page

Go back to your participant area and tap “Record by GPS” again. The permission prompt reappears: tap Allow.

Power saving mode. When enabled, it can slow down or block GPS. Turn it off for the duration of the race (Settings → Battery).

Android

1. Enable location on your phone

  1. Swipe down on the screen

In the quick settings, check that “Location” is on. Otherwise: Settings → Location → enable.

  2. Location accuracy

Settings → Location → “Google Location Accuracy” → turn it on for reliable positioning.

2. Allow the site in Chrome

  1. Tap the padlock (or the ⋮ at the top right)

    “Permissions” or “Site information”LocationAllow.

  2. Check that Chrome is allowed to access your location

Android Settings → Apps → Chrome → Permissions → Location → “Allow only while using the app”.

  3. Reload and try again

Back in your participant area, tap “Record by GPS” again.

I blocked the site by mistake

If you tapped “Block” or “Deny” on the location prompt, the browser will no longer ask automatically. You need to lift this block manually:

  • Safari (iPhone): “aA” button → Website Settings → Location → Allow.
  • Chrome: padlock in the address bar → Permissions → Location → Allow.
  • The simplest last resort: close the tab completely then reopen your participant link — the permission prompt starts over.

Still blocked after all that? Go outside, away from buildings (the GPS signal is poor indoors), wait a few seconds and try again. As a last resort, another browser (Chrome, Safari) or another phone will work.

Share my tracking with my loved ones

Your loved ones can follow your race in real time with no registration or app. From your participant space, the Share button opens your phone's native sharing panel (WhatsApp, SMS, Messenger, etc.) — or copies the link to the clipboard if native sharing is not available.

In your space's top bar, the button is highlighted in gold. First of the 3 icon buttons, next to Refresh and Logout.

  2. The native panel opens (or the link is copied)

On mobile: the system sharing panel (WhatsApp, SMS, Mail, Messenger…). On desktop: the link is copied to the clipboard with a confirmation message.

The shared link points to your public individual tracking page — not to your personal space (which contains your access code). Your friends can follow your progress without accessing your check-in interface.

Record a DNF from the app

If you need to drop out (injury, fatigue, conditions), report it directly from your space so the organizers know immediately that you are no longer on the course. This eases end-of-race logistics and prevents volunteers from waiting for you at the next checkpoint.

  1. Locate the "DNF" button

The button is in the action area of your participant card. Next to it, the red SOS button if the organizer has entered an emergency number.

  2. Confirm via the modal

A confirmation window opens. The action is permanent — no going back. Once confirmed, your status changes to DNF and the organization team is notified.

In the event of a medical or safety emergency, do not use the DNF button first. Call emergency services first using the SOS button (which calls the number provided by the organizer) or dial 112.

View my detailed results

Once the race is finished, your public profile remains accessible indefinitely via the same link. It contains your total time, your overall and category ranking, your split times by checkpoint, and your average pace. For BRM events, the technical status (Validated / Over time) is displayed as a large badge at the top of the profile. Official certification then follows a separate process managed by the organizer (submitting the file to the federation and receiving the number).

Your results include:

  • Total time and split time per checkpoint (elapsed time, pace km/h)
  • Overall ranking, by age category and gender (M/F)
  • Gap to leader at each checkpoint
  • Route map with all your passages shown
  • Elevation profile if the organizer has imported a GPX track
  • Ranking neighbors (3 ahead, 3 behind) for comparison

The individual PDF diploma is available for download if the organizer has enabled this option. It shows your time, your ranking, and the organizer's signature.
